High Hopes!!

One of my "HOPES" this year, is to balance work, family & business a little better. It was a difficult transition for me in 2009. I was so accustomed to getting to be creative whenever I wanted to...this scheduling and time managment stuff is really not ME:) So...in 2010 I plan to "make" time for signs...get more of them posted on Etsy...I am off to a start...here are a few signs I finished this week!!I also found all this interesting Ephemera this week...quilt patterns, pagees from an old Family Album and of all things...funeral & death themed. Some of it is from the 1800 's!!

Resolutions????

What are your resolutions this year???? Hmmmm...I usually do not make resolutions. I am always so dissapointed in myself if I don't accomplish them...so I just don't make them. Maybe I will this year...now that I think about...all the things I need to change...YUCK...forget it:):)

Off For the Weekend!!

Off to my parents house for the weekend! My husband and I are high school sweethearts...and going to my parents house...takes us both back in time. His parents have since moved away...but my parents live in the same small town...in the same house! We always eat at the same place we used to go on dates...and make out on the front step like the old days. Completely grosses the kids out...but hey...we have to torture them somehow!!

Hope you have a weekend filled with lots of warm cozy hugs and yummy goodies...and don't forget to take a moment and "remember" with your hubby the "old" days:) Then go find some mistletoe!!!!

Christmas Cards...sent!

I finally sent off the last of my Christmas cards today! Every year I tell myself I am going to send SIMPLE cards. I guess I really do not understand that concept...or SIMPLE is not in my vocabulary! Such a relief to have them all finished & sent!!

My tastes have changed BIG time over the years!! It is always an inner battle...do I put out the Santas this year...Country Christmas and tole painted??? I want an AQUA Christmas...or a PINK Christmas...with GLITTER EVERYWHERE...a funky vintage tree...a different theme every year. Some of these decorations I have had for 20 years....BUT how do I NOT put out the Santas that my mom painted me...or the tole painted Nativity set??? It all makes sense when my kids go around and comment on each decoration...about how much they LOVE the gourd snowmen...and remember how we all made these together...so here are a few pictures....

A Sweet Hello from Mr. Snowman

Hope you had a great day! Just when I thought I was having "one of those days" a friend told me my hair looked really pretty today. Isn't funny how a simple compliment out of no where can brighten your day??? So...for the rest of the season...I am going to try to go out of my way to compliment my friends...I mean...they are all great & amazing...I need to tell them more often:) I appreciate all of you too!! Your BLOGS give me sweet encouragement!!!

Custom Orders...Done!!

I finally can check "Custom Orders" off of my to do list!! They are finished, shipped & delivered!! What a relief!! I started working part time this summer...after being a stay at home mom for 11 years. I have had a bit of a struggle getting used to the fact that I do not have as much time as I used to...to get all the million things done! No complaints here...I am very thankful for the job...and my business...BUT I am ready for all this juggling to slow down a BIT. and REALLY looking forward to 2, 3 day weekends in a row coming up...to spend some sweet time with my family.

Woo Hoo!!! I Got a Present in the Mail!!!

I got a present in the mail yesterday!!!! I was so excited...I could not wait to get home & open it up!!! I participated in an ornament swap...and was lucky enough to have been paired up with Jessamy from London...look at the amazing ornaments I received...and all the extra goodies!!!!
Jessamy is half of Smitonius and Sonata...and they have a wonderful BLOG . They also have a FABULOUS Etsy Shop...http://www.etsy.com/shop/smitoniusandsonata.

I just fell in LOVE with these crystal ornaments...I think I will find someplace to keep them out all year...and they are exactly my favorite colors!!!

Thanksgiving Already??

Somehow...it is the end of November and Thanksgiving is in 2 days!! When did that happen?? Last week was one of THOSE weeks...when you do not get to sit down...a Holiday Boutique that we made over 100 signs for...a Midnight Show of New Moon (could not help myself) and a concert....this is what my house looked like up until last night!!

I always work in a controlled chaos...paint & glitter everywhere!! My husband is so sweet...always supportive...goes to work with glitter all over himself!!! Too funny!!!

I hope that everyone is having a beautiful and peaceful week!!

Is it Really Monday Already?????

Oh...so not prepared for Monday this week! It came way too fast!!!! Oh well...at least there is a holiday smack in the middle of this week...going to the beach on Veteran's Day!!

I just wanted to give a "shout out" to our new friends at The Cottage...local here in Paso Robles. They had a Holiday Open House this weekend...so wonderful & beautiful! It was great to see our little signs displayed also. So much of the time, we ship them out to unseen shops! Countdown!!!

Don't you feel like once Halloween is over...it is just a countdown until Christmas??? Wait...I am not ready!!! I am going to REALLY REALLY try to enjoy Autumn season this year without getting too spazo and taking on too many events.

That is my hope at least:)

OK...here is my TURQUOISE COFFEE TABLE!!! When I first painted it...I thought...OH NO!! THEN every single person in my family said...ooohh...it is kinda bright mom. Well...that was before I was finished with it:) There is always that moment in a furniture project that I think...UGLY!!!! Then...my favorite part...layer after layer...it becomes what it is supposed to be! It is like magic!!! Even though all shades of turquoise and aqua are my favorite colors...this is the very first piece of furniture I have painted this color. I usually paint everything white or black (for myself) and have been drooling over every piece of blue furniture I have seen. After my friend said get over it already and paint something...I did it!!!

AND...

I just LOVE it!!!!!

Now...I am going to confess...I have a terrible case of the I WANTS!!! I am usually so good about it...BUT I REALLY want to new flooring and it is making me crazy. I have to stop thinking about it...because it really is not in the budget...for a while. Most of the time I just forget about it...but whenever I start decorating...ALL I can see is my gross carpet!!! Someday, I know I will get hard flooring of some kind...and when I do...I will sooooooooo appreciate it!!! OK...now that I said it out loud...I am hoping the I WANTS will go away:) Thanks for letting me vent!!!

Chilly Weather...a Project Finished!

There is just something about chilly weather that makes me want redo my furniture!! Maybe because FINALLY it is not 110 degrees...and I can make a mess without sweating!! Here is my Gramma's lovely Maple table that I have been NEEDING to refinish for years!!! Oh so hard to stain something instead of paint...BUT I did it!! And I LOVE it!!! I stained it a dark walnut...goes so well with my Hoosier...I am really glad I did not paint it. Here it is!! It is a HUGE drop leaf table that I pull our for the holidays!

And...did I tell you that I think I decided to have a Blue Christmas??? So...I painted my coffee table turquoise (still in that I can't show you stage) and I think ONLY a Blue Christmas will do for my living room. So to get in the mood...I painted this aqua Merry Christmas sign! It was made using a salvaged vintage dresser drawer...and I just found this yummy vintage snowman artwork! I LOVE him!!!! This sign will be available in my Etsy shop...just as soon as I can get it in there!

Oh...it is getting dark...off to a big pot of chicken noodle soup and cheesy bread!!
